Working To Give To Others
These young entrepreneurs from Small Wonders at First Baptist Church in Dexter started the "business day" on Friday within sight of their goal - to donate $1000 to Alex's Lemonade Stand, a national foundation to help fight childhood cancer. They will soon begin work on their second goal - to raise money to buy toys and supplies for the children affected by this spring's floods and the Joplin tornado. The lemonade stand is open each Friday afternoon near the Walnut Street entrance to the church. The children are learning important lessons about sharing and giving to others through their lemonade stand experience. (SMT photo by Annabeth Miller)

Last season, the 6-foot-2, 225 pound quarterback made an appearance in nine games, completing 11 of 14 passes for 106 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Franklin’s running ability greatly helped him last season as he ran the ball 23 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns.” ~ source: www.pntoday.com

images/Blog Images/show/uj35James is the son of Willie and Pam Franklin. Willie was a standout tight end for Oklahoma and played in the NFL with the Baltimore Colts and is a well known preacher of the Gospel.

James sets a fine example of a Christian among his fellow MIZZOU players and peers.

Youth Workin' At A Car Wash!

Youth Workin' At A Car Wash!
"Workin' at the car wash - yeah, yeah!" The lyrics of the old disco song were all about working at the car wash and had everyone's toes tapping and feet dancing. But the youth at Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter were busy Saturday doing really working at car wash! The young people and several adult leaders from the church held a car wash at the Auto Zone in Dexter to help raise funds to go to summer camp in a few weeks in Georgia. The young folks worked hard and cars and trucks left bright and shiny and clean. For trucks and cars that have been driving in the hot dry weather lately, it was the perfect thing for a Saturday. Good job, kids! (SMT photo by Annabeth Miller)
